Introduction
Lowe’s Grove is proud of our very successful Pre College Academy (PCA) and AVID programs. The PCA is a highly structured “school within a school” team of sixth, seventh and eighth graders that promotes team unity, student support for one another and character development. The purpose of the PCA is to prepare students to take college preparatory courses in high school or to attend the Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School on the campus of North Carolina Central University . We are pleased that former Lowe’s Grove students make up a large percentage of current Early College High School attendees.
All PCA students are enrolled in AVID. The AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) program places students in rigorous, challenging classes while teaching them how to organize themselves, take notes, and study for class tests/quizzes/standardized tests. Tutorials during school hours are held to provide additional support to PCA students.
